Hoagy Carmichael The First of the Singer Songwriters: Key Cuts 1924-1946

£14.99

Product description

A 4 CD, 101 song collection of Hoagy Carmichael's songs between 1924 and 1946.

Hoagland Howard "Hoagy" Carmichael (November 22, 1899 – December 27, 1981) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor. American composer and author Alec Wilder described Carmichael as the "most talented, inventive, sophisticated and jazz-oriented of all the great craftsmen" of pop songs in the first half of the 20th century.[2] Carmichael was one of the most successful Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the 1930s and was among the first singer-songwriters in the age of mass media to utilize new communication technologies, such as television and the use of electronic microphones and sound recordings.

Box is in fairly poor condition with fraying and damage to the sides as has been pictured. The CD's themselves are all in very good condition with the boxes and booklet lacking any obvious damage. The discs are all clean except disc 3 which has a small surface scratch, however this does not affect play.
