No Roses Shirley Collins and The Albion Country Band - PEG 7

£34.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Featuring a total of 27 musicians and singers active in the folk revival scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s, this LP traverses the folk soundscape. Most prominent among the featured musicians is Ashley Hutchings, her husband at that time, who appears on all tracks. The album title 'No Roses' comes from the last words of the first verse of the folk song 'The False Bride' ("I went down to the forest to gather fine flowers, but the forest won't yield me no roses"). All songs are arrangements of traditional folk ballads.
