For over three decades R. Crumb has shocked, entertained, titillated and challenged the imaginations (and the inhibitions) of comics fans the world over. The acknowledged father of "underground comix," Crumb is the single greatest influence on the alternative comics of today. The three companion sets of trading cards - Heroes of the Blues, Early Jazz Greats, and Pioneers of Country Music - have all been sought by collectors. Although they were re-released in print as individual card sets, this is the first time they are being published together in book form. A biography of each musician is provided, along with a full-colour original illustration by underground cartoonist and music historian R. Crumb.
Includes a 21 track audio CD with recordings from Crumb's favourite blues, jazz and country artists that are featured in the book. The CD has several marks on the playing surface, but the CD has been tested and plays without impediment.
The hardback book is in Fine condition with a Very Good condition dustjacket. The DJ has some superficial scuffs, only visible under angled light. The spine has slightly sun-faded and there is a very small, closed nick to the bottom corner. The book itself has no outward signs of use or handling wear at all. The corners are sharp, the spine unbroken and the pictorial boards are clean and vivid in colour. The rear pastedown has some indistinct adhesive marks where the included CD used to be housed in a clear plastic wallet. The wallet is now missing but the CD is included and packaged in a paper envelope.
A very popular Christmas present when initially released, and sure to please any fan of Crumb or early American, recorded music.
