Saint-Saens "Organ" Symphony: Symphony No. 3 in C Minor. Op. 78 - Klavier Records - KS 526

£7.99

Product description

It is perhaps the words of Saint-Saens himself which give the most accurate picture of the intensity, the thoroughness and the sheer wealth of musical brilliance which glitter from this piece, like fire from the sun. Saens said ''I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again." Of someone, who could at the age of 11 perform Beethoven from memory, who was adept in various fields including poetry and mathematics, the weight of this statement can more fully be appreciated. Not only was it for it's time a work that could not be surpassed, but in it's technical prowess, it's originality and influence in renovating the musical scene of the time, it is a spectacle on this merit alone. The work's ambition alone was unheard of, employing the ideas of thematic transformation and utilising them in such a way as to be indicative not of a traditional narrative but as the forces of a dazzling, creative, and eloquent discourse.
The vinyl is in a good condition, with some dust. The box is in fine condition.
Matrix No. KS - 526 - A
