Smetana "The Bartered Bride" - Bamberg Symphony Orchestra & Rudolf Kempe - EMI 81872

£8.99

Product description

Set in a country village and with realistic characters, 'The Bartered Bride' tells the story of how, after a late surprise revelation, true love prevails over the combined efforts of ambitious parents and a scheming marriage broker. Performed in German. Featuring Pilar Lorengar, Fritz Wunderlich, Karl-Ernest Mercker, Gottlob Frick and Rias-Kammerchor.

This 3 x LP set (distributed by His Master's Voice) is in a very good condition for its age (which can be estimated between 1971-3, although this performance was recorded in 1962). The only damage to it exists on the outer case, which has been battered and torn in a few places, the front cover, however, still glints with unaffected gloss. The interior is also in great condition, barring a few markings on the discs and inner paper from its previous home at Bishop Grosseteste College, and looks to still promise a grand performance.
