Stockholm Motet Choir perform works by 3 German, & 4 Swedish Composers (Rec.d Mid 70s - BIS LP-14)

£6.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

(The Stockholm Motet Choir recorded this album during 22-24 November 1974, conducted by co-founder Dan-Olof Stenlund)

This Mid-Seventies album, is on the redoubtable Scandinavian, classical label BIS, which did so much to popularise the region's composers and performers, spanning the myriad generations of talent that were on offer at the time. To whet the appetite further, there is a pristine-condition, 4-page catalogue (sample Photo Six) showcasing just a snippet of the wonderful Scandinavian classical albums that were available in the Mid-70s, on the BIS label.

The Stockholm Motet Choir (sample, reverse sleeve Photo Five) was founded in 1968, strangely enough initially devoted to the music of Giovanni Palestrina, the 16C Italian composer of scared choral music. However, such was the choir's delivery of their chosen repertoire, that soon demands from the public came for a broader canvas of music to performed, such as the three renowned German (- Schutz, Reger & Mendelssohn), and four sprightly Scandinavian (- Aberg, Olsson, Svedlund and {the contemporary, to this day in 2017} Lidholm) composers featured on this LP (all lyrics - language native to each composer - displayed in gatefold sleeve).

Side One : The Stockholm Motet Choir :-
Compositions by Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672, one of the first great German composers, and a notable predecessor of J S Bach) :-
1) Der 100 Psalm {SWV36} 2) Also Hat Gott {SWV380} 3) Ich Wiess, Dass Mein Erloser Lebt {SWV393}.

4) O Tod, Wie Bitter Bist Du {Op.110/3}, by Max Reger (1873-1916).

Side Two : Motet Choir (conclusion) :-
1) Der 43 Psalm {Op.78/2}, by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-47).
2) I HImmelen, I Himmelen, by Jan Hakan Aberg (1916-2012).
3) Sag Mig Den Vagen, by Otto Olson (1879-1964).
4) Det Blir Nagot I Himlen For Barnen Att Fa, by Karl-Erik Svedlund (1906-74).
