The Art of Susan Longfield, vinyl LP, 1972 private charity recording for Cancer Research (Longfield's brilliant singing career was sadly cut short by her death of cancer in 1970). Mastered by EMI Records and pressed by EMI Ireland. 10 tracks including The Lark by Henry Lawes, To a Lady Singing by herself by the Thames side by Matthew Locke, Ah Dear Heart by Orlando Gibbons, Lasso Vita Mio by John Dowlands, 4 songs by Ivor Gurney, 3 French Songs by Gabriel Faure etc. Also includes a libretto leaflet.Susan Longfield had a long and celebrated association with the Purcell Consort of Voices and among her many admirers were Yehudi Menuhin, Sir Adrian Boult and Sir Arthur Bliss, each of whom contributed a tribute on the album sleeve. This is a rare and sought after recording. The disc is Near Mint, the libretto leaflet is in mint condition. Inner sleeve is in good / very good condition. The outer sleeve is in very good, clean and sound condition with just a slight crease / laminate lift to lower right hand corner.
A wonderful recording and a great memorial tribute to a truly talented singer, who's life was sadly cut short at the height of her career.
