Spider-Man

£7.99

Product description

Activision's Spider-man video game movie tie-in has been released across a number of platforms, but the PC version, accompanied with the right controller, has the potential to become the best of the bunch.

Something evil is afoot in skyscraper city, and it doesn't take long before Super-man's numerous arch enemies emerge as the prime suspects. The vanquishing of the nasty piece of work that is Green Goblin is your ultimate goal in this episode. You're Spider-man, you know what to do.

Graphics card permitting, Spider-man is easily the best looking of the five versions. Super high-res visuals, anti-aliasing and incredibly smooth texture mapping means you can enjoy Spider-man at his best in a plethora of completely immersive environments.

The premise of the game is very much like its predecessors: to swing high and low whilst demolishing your arch-enemy's minions. The highly polished aerial combat system is great for easy and precise control, allowing you to move almost anywhere within the free-roaming environments. Your web-spinning skills can often prove to be a great means of escape or transportation, but they are also needed to defeat the resident henchmen that stand in your way. By simply tapping a button on the pad, you can sling entire blobs of web to stun the enemy, buying you some invaluable seconds. If you prefer, you can use basic kick and punch attack combinations, but they will do you little good in the later stages of the game.

Many movie tie-ins have been heavily criticised for their lack of depth and poor gameplay. But, like Rare's Goldeneye, this one stands out from the rest simply because it's fun to play. Can you really ask more than that?

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
