Education for girls

£18.00

Product description

Beating poverty for good means giving people support beyond basics like food and water. It’s about breaking down the barriers that keep people poor. Getting more children into school. Making sure families can get the healthcare they need. Defending women’s rights – to things like land and earning an income. It all works. And it all starts with gifts like this one. A decent education can change everything, but many of the world’s poorest children miss out. This is even more likely if you’re a girl. Your gift can help reset the balance, by helping us pressure governments to invest in girls’ education. Niger is just one place Oxfam is helping more girls get an education, so people like Nana have the chance to build a better future – one full of possibilities.

This gift supports our Investing in the Future (IN) projects.

Education for girls

In Niger, Nana was one of over 700,000 girls who had never been to school. But then she got involved in a reading club, supported by Oxfam, which is changing girls’ education for good. Thanks to people like you, Oxfam has provided reading clubs with equipment and support for teachers – so students like Nana can work on improving their reading. Girls are now reading more confidently and have more motivation to keep learning. Clubs hold reading competitions too, so the girls and their parents can see their determination paying off. Thanks to your gift, more girls like Nana will be able to keep learning, and changing their lives for the better.
