Atlas of Electrochemical Equilibria in Aqueous Solutions

£24.99

Product description

Hardback, 1966, Pergamon Press, In Good Condition, Some creasing and tearing on the dust cover, age spots on the sides of the pages.

A new era in the study of electrochemical reactions occurring in an aqueous medium near an electrode is marked by the introduction into electrochemistry of potential -pH equilibrium diagrams in the form originated by Marcel Pourbaix in his adroit thesis. By their use it is possible to predict on a thermodynamic basis, for a given element, the equilibrium states of all the possible reactions between this element, its ions and its solids and gaseous compounds in the presence of water. Although certain restrictions must be accepted it is the fact that in many cases many -pH diagrams in the form originated be y Pourbaix Provide data leading to important conclusions, particularly so in the study of corrosion in aqueous media.

Compilation of the treatise has been achieved with the aid of twenty-one collaborators, particularly Jean van Muylder and Nina de Zoubov.
