Aunt Charlotte's Stories of French History for the Little Ones

£10.99

Product description

No actual date is present on this book but it does say that it is a 'new edition' and it is 'ninth thousand'. Also there is a school prize plate stuck on the pastedown which says that it was awarded in the year ending 1900. There is a preface to the first edition reproduced that is dated 1874.

Green cloth boards with gilt lettering on front and spine with a small gilt picture with wording which says 'Prize awarded by the school board for London'. Covers have some wear on them especially on top and tail of spine, edges and corners. Also some scuffing and staining. The binding is in good order other than a bit of cracking on the 2nd page in.

The pages are mostly clean, with foxing limited to the front and back endpapers. There is a black and white illustration opposite the title page which has a closed tear of about 3 cm on the internal edge. There are a number of other illustrations within the book - also in black and white.
