Bartholomew's Handy Reference Atlas of London & Suburbs

£20.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

A chance to explore London as it was in 1930!

This fascinating atlas book features 74 pages of road maps covering the city, plus two for the 'Environs of London' and 'The Thames: Reading to Weybridge'. At the front there are four pages of information and further plans showing the locations of clubs and theatres, a plan of the Tower of London and floorplans of St Paul's and Westminster Abbey. The first page in this section is missing but was probably a list of addresses as per page 3. The text on London itself is intact. At the rear of the book is an extensive index of roads followed by 12 pages of adverts.

The road maps are all coloured and are in clear and bright condition. There is a previous owner's name, dated 1934, in pencil on the first page and a sketch map and address, again in pencil, on a blank page towards the rear. Where the page is missing there is a crack in the binding but the volume remains tight. The cover is badly marked and the lower front corner of the spine is frayed. The corners are bumped and rubbed.
