Hardback 1991 edition. Ted Hughes joined the newly-professionalised Bournemouth Fire Brigade at the age of sixteen, he was its first clerk and later he was also a somewhat reluctant firefighter. In this book he writes an account of Bournemouth Fire Brigade from the 1930's onwards and particularly the years of the Second World War, when the town was a Luftwaffe bombardment, Ted Hughes had the immense advantage of seeing it from inside and indeed, helping to make history in a practical way. The book is sound,the sleeve is in good condition with some bumping on the top spine edge and front/back top right corners. The inside hardcover is black cloth with gold embossed lettering along its spine. The hard cover is in good condition with very slight bumping on the top spine edge and slightly shelf-cocked. All the pages inside are clean and in very good condition.
