Second edition published in 1873 by Adam and Charles Black. Frontispiece illustration, and blue-dyed top edge to the text block.

The explorer James Bruce's account of his attempt to find the source of the Nile. It contains several illustrations and a fold out map of the region. It is a detailed and interesting account of travel to a largely unexplored region of Africa. It also contains a detailed index.

A presentation book plate from the Bold Street Wesleyan Sunday School is attached to the inside front cover, awarded in 1900 to D Ostler for punctual & regular attendance.

This the second edition reduced from the original work by J Morison Clingham with maps and illustrations.

The cover does have some wear, darkening and bumped corners. However the internal contents are in a fairly clean condition with a sound binding. The pages are lightly yellowed.
