Cobra

£29.99

Product description

Founded in Paris in 1948 by artists and writers principally from Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands, Cobra was one of the most important new revolutionary art movements in Europe in the immediate post-war years. Cobra as a movement lasted officially from 1948 to 1951, but the legacy of the communal experiment was strong and most of the major artists of the group notably Asger Jorn, Karel Appel and Pierre Alechinsky, continued to work for years in Cobra-like styles.
In this book, Jean-Clarence Lambert traces the origins of Cobra in detail, discussing its sources in the Belgian surrealist movement and in Danish avant-garde art of the late 30's.

The Book and Dust Jacket are in Very Good Condition.
