Product description

Contemporary Botanical Artists

Celebrating the renaissance of botanical art with work collected during the last five years from over a hundred painters, living in seventeen different countries around the world

The Shirley Sherwood Collection

Victoria Matthews, ed

Weidenfeld & Nicolson, in association with The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, 1996.

Soft-bound; 230 x 290 mm; 240 pages. Profusely illustrated in colour and printed on good quality paper. No dust jacket.

The book is in very good condition. The binding is sound and tight. The covers are a little grubby with tanning of the spine. Small monogram “DJR” in blue ink on the fly title. The contents are otherwise clean and unmarked.

“Over a hundred artists are represented here, with work that rivals – and in some cases surpasses – even the exquisite botanical studies of the 18th and 19th centuries. The career of each artist is examined in an illuminating essay accompanying their work. The result is a ravishing and important record of an enduringly popular art form.”
