Correspondance de Marcel Proust: Tome III

£35.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

This third volume of Proust's letters written in French is in very good condition. The dust jacket is good and inside it is tight and clean. Published in 1976 in an annotated version ( Philip Kolb).

Proust did not intend his correspondence to be published. His letters were above all a means of communication. Many of them are the equivalent of what would today be the subject of a telephone or electronic message. Proust having a very fine sense of human relations and little practical sense, the most banal motives, like an invitation to dine, can be accompanied by long and subtle diplomatic explanations. Some letters are full of humour, others express deep distress. Proust shows himself as he appeared to his contemporaries: sensitive and intelligent, often charming, sometimes exasperating. From the moment when Proust devoted himself to the composition of his novel, imposing long periods of seclusion, his correspondence became a means of maintaining emotional and social bonds.

Oxfam Bookshop Bath

The Bath Oxfam Books and Music shop has been open since 2001. We stock a wide selection of books, vinyl, cds and dvds but always welcome donations to keep our shelves full and interesting. Following our shop refit in 2009 we have a modern, bright and spacious interior where customers are welcome to browse at their leisure. We do not specialise in any one area but often seem to do particularly well with History books and Vinyl. Thanks to the wonderful donations we receive on a daily basis through the door, and from our local Book Banks, we offer our customers a fantastic range of stock both in the shop and online. Please come and see for yourselves!
