Cyclopaedia of English Literature

£24.99

Product description

This is a two-volume set of “Cyclopaedia of English Literature; A History, Critical and Biographical, of British Authors, from the Earliest to the Present Times”. Published in 1844, the books are bound in half-leather boards with a marbled design on the covers. All the edges are painted with a similar design. The spines have raised bands with a gilt decoration; there is also faded gilt lettering on the spines. These volumes are complete with illustrations of some of the authors, which accompany certain extracts. Condition: both copies show some moderate marking and scuffing on the covers and spines. The books’ edges exhibit some mild shelf-wear. Both volumes have a sticker and a previous owner’s inscription on the front paste-down. Volume two has a large sticker on the rear paste-down. The interior pages are generally clean and bright, although there is some occasional marking and foxing. Overall, these books are in good condition for their age.
