Very rare first edition can only find in British Library.

Clean tight pages, first few pages browned with age. bindings tight, neat inscription on first page. Blue boards with black writing on spine, embossing of crown surrounded by laurel leaves on cover and spine, bit of rubbing and bumping to edges and corners through shelf wear.

Sir Henry Hamilton Johnston GCMG KCB (1858 – 1927), frequently known as Harry Johnston, was a British explorer who traveled widely in Africa, botanist, artist, colonial administrator and linguist who spoke many African languages. He published 40 books on African subjects and was one of the key players in the Scramble for Africa that occurred at the end of the 19th century.
