Dictionary of the Members of the Dublin Book Trade 1550-1800

£24.99

Product description

This massive work of reference, published by the Bibliographical Society, would offer a mine of fascinating information to anyone interested in the history of bibliography, book sales and booksellers. Bibliography is generally considered as a twofold scholarly discipline - the organised listing of books (enumerative bibliography) and the systematic description of books as physical objects (descriptive bibliography). Any student of librarianship, books, or even history, should find plenty to interest them in these pages.

The author appears well-known in the bibliography world, and has published a number of texts, but little detail is available about him personally.

The book is in excellent condition, bound in dark blue cloth with gilt titles etc on the spine. It is a large volume, and perhaps this has contributed to the lack of external signs of wear. Internally it is equally clean and bright, with a tight binding and no markings anywhere.
