Jackdaw no.83, a set of references about the discovery of galaxies. Originally published 1967, this is the 1971 reprint.
Contents - 2 maps of the heavens 1790, a nebula and a galaxy as see by Herschel, Lord Rosse, Huggins and Hubble, letter from Herschel to Bode 1801, a letter from Lord Rosse to Herschel's son John, photo of part of Milky Way 1892, charts showing some bright nebulae and galaxies and layout of the Milky Way, 2 modern photos showing a supernova in Ursa Major, photo of a cluster of galaxies in Hercules, colour photo of Orion's nebula, a star chart for every day of the year in the form of a planisphere to be made up and a sealed envelope (still sealed) with a problem for astronomers. Also included is s map of the world, stanhope projection, 1970 and a George Philip & Son planisphere.
Good condition, seems barely used. The folder it's all contained in is intact but scuffed along the edges.
