Synopsis
Artist Wendy Kirkup's project Echo consists of images recorded via an ultrasound internal body-mapping process. Projected as a massive abstract film, Echo transforms the exteriors of two radically different buildings in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Glasgow. This project is expanded upon in the book and accompanying CD-ROM, which contains sections of the film. Among the essays included is a discussion of body visualisation and genetics by the artist and professor Tom Shakespeare (Policy, Ethics and Life Science Research, Newcastle-upon-Tyne).
