Very rare & highly collectable edition of Euripides, held in major national and university libraries in Britain and U.S.A.
Edited by the English Scholar Joshua Barnes 1654-1712, Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge.

Euripides, Joshua Barnes Edition. Published in Leipzig in 1788.
"Euripidis tragoediae fragmenta epistolae : ex editione Iosuae Barnesii nunc recusa et aucta appendice obseruationum e variis doctorum virorum"

Probably original leather binding. Bound into two volumes, vols I & II in first volume, vol III in second volume. Greek and Latin in parallel columns; preliminaries in Latin.
Boards and spine very worn, boards on volume I have become detached but have been repaired with leather. Boards on vol II are detached from volume.
Both volumes tightly bound, pages in very good condition considering age. Frontispiece engraved portrait of Euripides. Vol I has Inscription in neat writing on front end paper, " E.Libris. Frederici Gray, Ex Dono Directissimi Patris Gul (?) Gray".
