Exhibition Catalogue: Incontrarsi a Emmaus (Meet with Emmaus) - Padova, Palazzo del Monte di Pietà - 12 April - 18 May 1997

£24.99

Product description

Please note: The text of the catalogue is in Italian.

Lavishly illustrated with colour and black-and-white photographs.

The ecclesial community of Padua, as part of the "Citizen Mission" together with educational experiences and religious celebrations, has promoted some cultural initiatives to meet the city.

Among the proposals, the exhibition "Incontrasi e Emmaus" is the most significant for the richness of instances and meanings manifested in the figurative arts in medieval and modern age, on the iconographic theme of the Gospel passage narrated by St. Luke, in chapter 24.

We wanted to talk with the city by offering a large repertoire of works of art made in Padua, Venice, and in Veneto, with a more limited choice for paintings preserved in Italy and some in Europe. This enables us to initiate through biblical, spiritual, theological and liturgical reflection through artistic witnesses, present in the works themselves or in their historical-religious context.

The itinerary presented in this exhibition exemplifies, in the long journey of history, the interior path of a faith lived and celebrated for several generations, through a variety of resonances, meanings and expressions underlying the ideation of Christian figurative art.

There is very slight bumping to the corners of the front cover. Otherwise, the item is in excellent condition throughout.
