Product description

This is a collection of stories for edited by Alfred Miles, containing a preface by him dated 1st September 1889 where he explains the book arose from a desire to publish a permanent collection of stories originally written for magazines and annuals. The stories were written by a large number of authors including himself. A list of the 52 Series at the back shows it as the first of a large number of the same "52" series.

It is bound in green cloth with gilt and black writing with gilt, black and tan pictures and gilt page edges. The front and rear boards are bevelled. It is in good condition with some foxing at the front and an inscription on the front page dated Xmas 1908. It also has a black and white drawing at the front protected by tissue still intact.
