Product description

Former Library book (Sticker & ticket pocket at front of book and embossed on final page). Front page has an inscription written in pen. No dust jacket. Boards are maroon in colour; title, author's name & publisher's mark are gilt embossed on spine and the top & bottom of front & back cover have blind embossed line design. The spine and part of front cover are faded. The (uncut) binding is slightly loose; pages are clear & legible.

Opposite the the title page, protected by a leaf of tissue paper, there is a monochrome photograph of the author's father (J.W. Nott-Bower) with his signature underneath.

On 25th September 1925 J.W. Nott-Bower resigned the office of Commissioner of Police for the City of London after serving for 52 years in the police and completing nearly 60 years of Public Service. In this book he reminisces about his long career. At the front is a preface written by J.W. Nott-Bower, contents pages and a list of illustrations and, at the back, an index.
