This book documents the explorations of a whaling ship in the years 1855, ’56, ’57, ’58, and ’59. It covers cruises in the pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Antarctic Oceans. It is bound in brown cloth boards with (faded) gilt lettering on the spine. Condition: the covers are affected by some heavy shelf-wear, corner-bumping, and rubbing. The book’s edges are quite severely scuffed. There is a substantial amount of fading, discolouration, staining and pencil marking to the interior pages. There are some sticker remnants on the front paste-down. Since all the text appears to be legible and the binding is strong in most places, I would grade this book as being (just about) in fair condition.
