Haste Ye Back

£3.99

Product description

From dust jacket: This refreshingly unsentimental story of the author's life as a child in Aberlour Orphanage, Banffshire, is unusual because it shows that an orphanage can also be a home - and a happy one at that. Dorothy Haynes looks back on pleasant times and many friendships, especially that of Dean Wolfe who was warden of the orphanage for thirty years.
Thousands of children have passed through Aberlour Orphanage and at one time there were five hundred in residence. Now the children have been dispersed to smaller Aberlour Homes throughout the country and the old buildings have been demolished. The author and her husband spent their Silver Wedding watching the bulldozers move in, and remembering the past.
Dorothy Haynes has kept in touch with Aberlour all her life, and Haste Ye Back - told honestly, observantly and amusingly - is a tribute to Dean Wolfe and the home he made for so many children.

The dust jacket is torn in several places on the front and the back. The rest of the book is in very good condition. There are several black and white photographs within the book as well.
