Henning Larsen: The Architect's Studio

£100.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Henning Larsen: The Architect's Studio

Both the dust jacket and book are in very good condition. There is a 9mm tear to the top left of the dust jacket front cover, and two 3mm tears to the top edge of the dust jacket spine. Text block is detached from the cover but otherwise the book is a good, clean copy.

The book is in Danish and English with colour photos throughout. It was published to accompany an exhibition that ran from 12 Nov 1999 to 27 Feb 2000.

The ability to capture the spirit of a time while still maintaining a sense of continuity with tradition is a typical dilemma for modern architecture, and the projects created by Henning Larsen are no exception. Using a contemporary and sophisticated formal language, Larsen and his studio have succeeded in extracting the essence of the new and in translating it into a consistent and convincing architectural idiom. His strength lies in simplification of form and function, evident in his use of archetypal elements and themes such as the house-within-a-house and the internal street. Brought to international acclaim with his design for the Foreign Ministry building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the early 80s, Larsen's most recent works include Christiansbro and the Danish Design Center, both located in Copenhagen.
