Publisher: The Religious Tract Society, London, 11th edition, c1910. Hardback, 250 pages plus publisher book lists, illustrated with impressive b&w plates and drawings. Attractively decorated cover, in light tan cloth boards with lovely gilt titling and maritime illustrations to spine and front, is in decent condition with some shelfwear / rubbing to edges, a few fading marks on front and back and light bumping to spine extremities. Internally the book is in good, firm, clean and bright condition for its age with light tanning to text pages and page block edges, neat pen inscription to ffep (dated 1910) , a little foxing here and there and an inky mark on page block fore-edge. A fascinating book telling the story of the lifeboat men of the Kent coast and Goodwin sands and some of the spectacular rescues they carried out. Illustrated with splendid full page b/w plates and further drawings in the text. A wonderful old book for all those interested in the sea and the perilous work of the lifeboat men at the beginning of the 20th century.
