Hidden Beauty: Exploring the Aesthetics of Medical Science

£12.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Hidden Beauty: Exploring the Aesthetics of Medical Science

Surrey. Bushwood Books, first edition 2013. pp 232.

The front of dust jacket is in excellent condition with no tears are chips etc. Corners very good and just the lightest of shelf wear. Rear jacket cover and spine are both torn to the top edge to a depth of 2 cms.
Immaculate as-new condition paper covered card boards and untouched text block, full of fine colour and b/w images of all things anatomical or medical. The art work is excellent - this book does what it says on the tin: presenting the science in an interesting arty sort of way.
Nice coffee table book. The jacket illustration looks pretty enough, until you find out what it is.
Put the jacket aside somewhere and then leave the book out for guests to look at.

This collaborative project by a scientist and artist from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine asks the reader to consider the aesthetics of human disease, a dynamically powerful force of nature that acts without regard to race, religion, or culture.

Visually stunning patterns of different diseases have been captured with a variety of imaging technology ranging from spectral karyotyping to scanning electron microscopy.

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
