Considered one of the most influential works of Communist literature, this is a socialist realist novel written by Nikolai Ostrovsky (1904–1936).

Nikolai Alexeevich Ostrovsky (1904–1936) was a Soviet socialist realist writer, of Ukrainian origin, best known for his novel "How the Steel Was Tempered".

Our copy is in nice condition considering its age, and retains its dust jacket, which is slightly worn at edges & corners, but intact. The book is bound in grey cloth with titles in gilt and red lettering on front & spine, and a relief image of riders on the front. Cover somewhat puckered on the spine. Bevelled edges, somewhat darkened at top & corners. Inside, the binding is firm with no loose pages; pages clean and bright; red motif & initial letter to chapters; black & white illustrations by A. Reznichenko. Previous owner's name in red biro on front fep. Red silk page marker present.
