In the first John Ford tells the history of Brighton and Hove, using the best of the prints to bring the past to life. The central section, or Gallery, reproduces nearly all of the prints of the district up to 1860 and any of special interest thereafter. In the final section Jill Ford catalogues all the prints in the Gallery, together with many varying states and close derivatives.
