Saint Helena Press, Richmond-upon-Thames, 1981, First edition. Signed by both authors and Bamber Gascoigne, the publisher. Hardback, bound in dark blue cloth, with title and an image of the Pavilion in silver on the spine; 4to., 383 pp; illustrated D/J. Book condition: VG, clean and bright; signed by both authors and the series publisher, Bamber Gascoigne, on title page verso. D/J condition: Good, handling marks on spine, slight shelf-wear but now protected by clear plastic sleeve. The book contains three related sections. In the first John Ford tells the history of Brighton and Hove, using the best of the prints to bring the past to life. The central section, or Gallery, reproduces nearly all of the prints of the district up to 1860 and any of special interest thereafter. In the final section Jill Ford catalogues all the prints in the Gallery, together with many varying states and close derivatives.
