John Cooper Clarke: Directory 1979

£45.00

Product description

This book is the first collection of 12 of John Cooper Clarke’s poems from the late 1970s including I Married A Monster From Outer Space, Post War Glamour Girls, Valley of the Lost Women and Ten Years in an Open-necked Shirt.

Produced in a post-punk graphic design, (by Barney Bubbles) and styled like a Telephone Directory with all the lyrics overlaid on pages listing the names Cooper or Clarke.

This copy is believed to be the second printing which excludes the printing of an ISBN and has no ‘Directory 1979’ at top right of front cover. This may be the version for inclusion as part of the package for early copies of the LP "Snap Crackle and Bop" in 1980.

Illustrated throughout in black and white.
Photographs by Kevin Cummins, Tom Sheehan and Paul Slattery.

John Cooper Clarke (born 25 January 1949) is an English performance poet who first became famous during the punk rock era of the late 1970s when he became known as a "punk poet". He released several albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and continues to perform regularly.

CONDITION: Very light corner bumps with very minimal sunning to spine edge and very minimal instances of spotting internally, (pages 1,4,5 & 25) this is a clean and bright copy with no inscriptions or notations. (See photos)
