Hardback, 157 pp, cardboard covers with flaps, handling wear and shelf wear, ends of spine a little ragged. There is separation of the spine paper from the body of the book at top and bottom, about a one inch tear. Smudges, stains and tanning on cover, which is very plain, due to war years austerity. Inside, there is foxing on the introductory pages and on the rear pages, also along the page block edge. Text however is generally clean and clear. There is a fine b&w photograph of Gillett, the great Quaker philanthropist, as frontispiece. Full title is "Joseph Rowntree Gillett - A Memoir, with some selections from travel letters and articles."
