Juxtapoz Poster Art

Product description

Title: Juxtapoz Poster Art

Extract from the Introduction:

The third book in an ongoing series from the seminal West Coast art and culture magazine, Juxtapoz Poster Art, focuses on the art of screenprints. Screenprinting is the medium of the workingman's artist. It is the platform from which an artist can become world - renowned without the luxury of a big budget or the backing of a sophisticated gallery. Screenprinting is the people's art, and in the era of mass production and consumption, the handmade and precious are symbols of rebellion.

One might claim screenprinting is making a comeback, but the truth is that screenprinting is bigger now than ever. In the past 10 years, screenprinting has balloned in popularity and a new class of artist has emerged. These artists stepped away from the psychedelic posters of the '60's and developed their own aesthetic - incorporating everything from hand drawn type to found objects. Their posters have become sought - after collectors' items for art and music fans alike. Featured artists include Aesthetic Apparatus, Ben Woodward, Bill McRight, Burlesque of North America, Emek, Invisible Creature, Jeff Kleinsmith, Jesse LeDoux, Little Friends of Printmaking, Paul Insect, Rocky Grimes, Seripop, Shepard Fairey, Steven Harrington, Tim Gough and more.

The book has an illustrated cover and green lettering to the spine.

There is bumping on the lower edge of the gutter hinge of the upper cover and bumping on the upper part of the gutter hinge.

The upper corner of the rear cover has bumping and the lower corner of the rear cover has wear and tear and bumping.
