La Captivité de Sainte-Hélène by Georges Firmin-Didot [1894, French Text]

£39.99

Product description

Published in 1894 by Librairie Firmin-Didot & Cie, Paris. Part leather binding with marbled boards, 5 spine bands, and marbled end papers. Silk page marker ribbon. French text.

The full title of the book is 'La Captivité de Sainte-Hélène d'après les rapports inédits du marquis de Montchenu', which translates as 'The captivity of [presumably, Napoleon on] St Helena according to the unpublished reports of the Marquis de Montchenu'.

Includes engraved frontispiece illustration of Napoleon and other engravings, full-page and also within the text.

In fairly good condition, although the spine does need to be repaired. The spine strip, although still attached, is split along the length of the front edge. There is also a bit of damage at the top and bottom edges of the spine. The pages are yellowed, and dusty towards their edges. However despite these flaws in reasonable condition with a sound binding.
