L'architecture gothique: Lectures et interprétations d'un modèle

£19.99

Product description

L'architecture gothique: Lectures et interprétations d'un modèle by Anne Coste. Published by The University of Saint-Étienne, 1997.

The progress of engineering sciences, the means provided by computer modelling and numerical computation, make it possible to shed light on questions that arise both in the field of constructive thought and in that of the pathology of buildings. They lead the architect and the historian to reconsider the constructive principles developed at different periods and to give them a new meaning. His field of investigation is destined to extend to the study of many historical architectural objects. Computational modelling and numerical computation offer an alternative to traditional methods, ineffective when buildings are particularly complex because of their geometry or the nature of the external actions to which they are subjected. To avoid repeating the errors of the nineteenth century, it will be necessary to be able to match the architectural models - in the Platonic sense of the term - and the scientific models that are used.

French language book. Softback first edition. Book is in fine condition. Very small marks on cover but no damage.
