Editions De L'Amitie G-T. Rageot 1948. First edition French language hardback with unclipped dust jacket in fair condition - some light marking/ fading to jacket and some light wear to edges. Boards are lightly marked. Pages are tanned with light foxing to end papers. Binding is good.

Le Voyage de Judy by Lois Lenski
Alternative title “ Heures Joyeuses”. The enchanting “ poor brave “ Judy travels across America from Florida to Maryland with her family of homeless migrant labourers, moving from farm to farm in an old Ford car. She spends more time in the fields than at school but overcomes her difficulties with determination. The story highlights the plight of homeless families in the 1940s in a style suitable for the age of it’s intended readers.
Based on Les Raisons de Colere , Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath , “ it is written by Lois Lenski an award winning children’s author who died in 1974. She was a winner of the Newberry Medal for Children’s literature and founded the Lois Lenski Foundation which gave grants for books for children at economic risk. It is translated into French by Edith Vincent with delicate black and white drawings by the author and is considered suitable for readers 10 -14 yrs old.
