An illustrated account of the Norwegian explorer who led the first crossing of the interior of Greenland in 1888 and came nearest so far to the North Pole on his expedition of 1893-6. Fifteen plates and additional illustrations in text. Undated but "New Edition Revised and Considerably Enlarged", Presumably pre-1898 as there is a presentation book plate of this date on the front end paper. Dark blue board covers with gilt title, author's name etc. on front cover and spine. Spine and corners slightly bumped but otherwise in very good condition for its age with clean pages and tight binding.
