Love Letters of a Musician

£19.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Revised edition. Love Letters of a Musician (1899) was Reed's first novel, the first of her many works to be well-received by the public.
Cover by Margaret Armstrong.

This book is a collection of fictional letters from a musician to his adored love interest. In his account he writes intimate letters over the course of a few years hoping to woo her, even though she never does see them.

Excerpt from first Chapter:
"I don't know just how to tell you what I feel to-night, for I am little more than a boy and pretty badly confused, even for me. Your letter is all kindness and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, though I cannot see what you have done that should make you ask me to forgive you. I have known for a long time how much I cared for you, but I thought I could manage to keep it to myself. I knew that to tell you would be but to hurt you - and you know I would not willingly do that."

CONDITION: General edge and shelf wear. Spine discoloured with gilt still present. Gilt titles and motif to cover still bright although green boards a little faded and marked. Previous owners name in pen dated 1900 to F.F.E.P. A couple of light pencil annotations are present on a couple of pages. Pages inside are very clean and bright with little to no foxing or browning bar the outside edges. Gilt edge to top of pages. Binding still strong. (See photos)
