Transformation is one of the underlying aims and motivations behind the work of Luis Gordillo, who brings it into play with ideas such as the double, multiplication, origins, mood as a creative force, fragmentation, transformative serialisation, the circle and the oval, loops and labyrinths.
The images in Gordillo’s work appear to be undergoing a process of constant reproduction that prevents them from ever reaching their final state and meaning.
The catalogue of the retrospective exhibition held at MACBA offers the first comprehensive selection of Gordillo’s full artistic range, encompassing paintings, drawings, photography and collage.
It includes an essay by Francisco Calvo Serraller and a selection of texts by Gordillo.
