First edition, first impression of this very rare example of one of Raymond Briggs's earliest works. This children's adventure book is also illustrated by Raymond Briggs. The book is in very good + condition, in a price-clipped but overall good dust jacket. There is a small crease at the head of the spine, light bumping to the corners of the rear board, and a few tiny brown stains affecting the lower board edges. There is some foxing to the page edges. The front pastedown has a small dark stain. On the front free end paper there is the faint remnant of a gift inscription (in a child's handwriting). There is light foxing to the prelims., half title page and title page, and in the margin of a few pages, but not affecting the text. Otherwise the book is clean and tightly bound. The clipped dust jacket has some light rubbing around the spinal margins and the head and tail of the spine, with a very small nick at each of the head and tail. The title panels on the front cover has a small mark, whilst the title panel on the spine is a bit tanned, and has a small stain. The fore edge of the dust jacket has a small closed tear, and a small stain towards the lower edge. The front flap has a small crease. There are blue ink lines drawn on the rear cover of the jacket, which has some very light staining, and the verso of the jacket is tanned with some staining.
