Missionary Travels and Researches in South Africa

£20.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Including a sketch of sixteen years' residence in the interior of Africa, and a journey from the Cape of Good Hope to Loanda on the West Coast; thence across the continent, down the river Zambesi, to the Eastern Ocean.

By David Livingstone, published by John Murray in 1857.

Fold out illustration as frontispiece. One foldout p.569 is loose, but in good condition. One plate seems to be missing, p.562. Index and appendix remain uncut to head. Fold out map at rear followed by Mr Murray's List of Recent Works (8 pages). 'Bound by Edmonds and Remnants' sticker to back board.

In good condition for age, but boards in brown cloth with embossed pattern are very worn, corners bumped and exposed, head and tail of spine bumped and torn. Front board is detaching from block where hinge has split internally, and front free end paper almost detached. Otherwise, block is good. Foxing and marks to pages. Rough cut edges to block.
