Moral Tales & Popular Tales

£16.99

Product description

Maria Edgeworth's "Moral Tales" and "Popular Tales" bound together in one volume, each with a preface by her father Richard Edgeworth. "Moral Tales", first published in 1801, "to illustrate the opinions delivered in "Practical Education"...afford agreeable relaxation from severe studies, and that they will be thought what they profess to be - Moral Tales". This volume does not contain a date but can be traced to between 1865 and 1873 by the publisher, which only bore the name "Ward, Lock, and Tyler" during that period.

Book shows signs of age: cover somewhat faded particularly on spine and around edges, corners rubbed and bent, and some splits at top and bottom of spine. Spine has 2 tears, both with some missing material, the largest of which is 2 cm long. Gilt lettering and decoration is present but slightly faded. Front and back covers stained and dented. Hinges and binding loose, but all pages appear to be present. Interior shows light foxing along with occasional dog-earing and closed tears to page edges. Endpapers contain some pencil markings. Text remains perfectly legible and copy is suitable for reading
