Including an introduction written by the author, presenting some important questions parents should ask of themselves when choosing a name for their child.

Elsdon C. Smith gives useful advice to prospective parents when they begin the task of choosing a name for their baby. Giving examples of questions parents should ask when picking their new baby's name, these include: How easily is the name spelled or pronounced? How easily does the chosen name harmonise with the family surname? Could there be any negative connotations with the initials?
The author then gives a comprehensive list of baby names from A-Z for both boys and girls complete with origin, qualities and meaning of each name.

In good condition. A green smudge in the ink on the head of the spine and mild foxing throughout the book nearer the spine but not inhibiting the legibility of the writing. Overall the pages are clean and the binding is tight. The boards are very lightly bowed.

Within the book is also a piece of paper with the jottings of a previous owner when choosing the name for their baby.
