Oliver the Western Engine

£19.99

Product description

Oliver the Western Engine
London: Kaye & Ward Limited. First edition: 1969. pp 56.

No.24 in the Reverend Awdry's Railway series. Illustrated by Gunvor & Peter Edwards.
Dust jacket is fair to good; there are tears to both faces (2-3 cms) and chips all around. The flaps and corners are very good, the front face is nice and bright with good sheen. Rear face shows shelf wear.
Blue cloth with unusual orange imprint of Oliver, all in very good state - virtually as-new. Text block fine, no marks of any kind. All corners and edges fine. Pages becoming tanned in places.
Wonderful vintage colour illustrations of the scenes, looking much earlier than 1969. This book features the notorious contest between Duck and Bulgy that resulted in Bulgy becoming a hen house.

On the title page facing is a list of the available merchandise at the time: press-out model books, gramophone records with the voice of Johnny Morris (of Animal Magic) and a map of Sodor.

Wonder how this unique item ended up online?

Most of the second-hand items you see online have been donated, by supporters like you, to our high street stores. Each item is then priced, photographed and listed on this site by our amazing team of volunteers from across the country.

After you have bought your item, our team of volunteers package and dispatch it from the Shop straight to you or your chosen recipient.

All profits from the sales of our goods go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. We rely on your donations to sell online so please keep the cycle of goodness going!

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
