A novel loosely based on an incident which happened when the author, the film actor Anthony Quayle, was stationed on Gibraltar during the Second World War.

Hardback book in good condition. Ends of spine and corners bumped. Stain at bottom of spine. Shelfwear to bottom edge of back board. Endpaper discoloured. Pencil ownership inscription on front free endpaper of Antony Hopkins (CBE, musician and broadcaster). Produced to post-war authorised economy standards.

Dust jacket in protective cover in fair condition. Not price clipped. Paper loss to two thirds of spine. Small patches of paper loss and chips to covers. Shelf wear and creasing to edges and inside flaps. Back cover grubby, illustrated with photograph of Quayle.

Oxfam Books & Music Berkhamsted

Located in the centre of the historic market town, we are open seven days a week. You will find a wide and interesting range of stock, including a great selection of children's books, popular and classical music on vinyl and CD, vintage Penguins and other paperbacks, and quirky and collectable items. Our stock is selected by knowledgeable volunteers, catering for both general readers and specialists. We are happy to check our backroom stock for wanted items and also offer a request service. Our themed windows are usually changed every two weeks, with our December Christmas displays offering a diverse and unusual range of gift ideas.

We welcome your donations, which can be brought to the rear of the building (via the Lower Kings Road Car Park). Please contact us before bringing large quantities to discuss arrangements.
