Our Baby. For Mothers and Nurses

£9.99

Product description

Small hardback bound in faded blue cloth boards with the title on the front and spine.

There is corner bumping (with the original boards showing through).

Previous owner's name and address in ink on the fep.

The book contains vintage advertisements and plenty of good advice for new mothers - "Opium : A special warning to English mothers in India is necessary" "Nursery routine : There should be a time-table in every nursery. Nothing does more harm to the nervous system of a little child than constant change in the routine, especially if the element of choice is introduced" "Should twins arrive, a mother must not be dismayed"

Wonder how this unique item ended up online?

Most of the second-hand items you see online have been donated, by supporters like you, to our high street stores. Each item is then priced, photographed and listed on this site by our amazing team of volunteers from across the country.

After you have bought your item, our team of volunteers package and dispatch it from the Shop straight to you or your chosen recipient.

All profits from the sales of our goods go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. We rely on your donations to sell online so please keep the cycle of goodness going!

Oxfam Shop Southampton

We have a dedicated bridal suite within the Oxfam's Southampton shop, with good quality fashionable bridal wear and accessories, new and second-hand, usually with a choice of over 200 dresses. Many of our beautiful wedding dresses can be taken home on the day. We also have another suite with a range of bridesmaid dresses, groom outfits, veils and lots of other wedding accessories.  Selected bridal items are available to order online.

Trying your first wedding gown is by appointment only by booking here.  During one hour of a free appointment, you will have our stylist volunteer to help you choose and try the dresses on. Usually you have time to try 5-6 dresses, but if there's time you can try as many as you like. Please help us to maintain our dresses in a good condition for other brides to try. You can wear make-up, but we will provide you with a face cover to prevent transferring the make-up to our dresses. The appointment will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 to 3.

In the main shop, we sell good quality clothes, books and homewares. We also stock greetings cards and a range of 'green' products.
