Regional Variation in Timber-framed Building in England and Wales down to 1550

£26.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

147pp, A4 format soft cover. Some shelfwear (scuffs and scratches to cover; slightly bumped corners), but otherwise binding is tight and square. Pages are clean and bright with no marking or annotations, but there is a previous owner's inscription inside the front cover and a very small amount of pink staining on the opening title page. A series of essays on medieval timber-framed buildings around the British Isles. Illustrated throughout with detailed b/w drawings and some photographs.
"The Proceedings of the 1994 Cressing Conference... This conference, one of a series held at Cressing Temple, was prompted by the conviction that the identification of regional variations or 'dialects' in timber-framed building begins to place the subject in the wider context of social and economic history. Socio-economic factors are in turn likely to explain features of the buildings themselves..." (quoted from preface)
